I'm coming to the end of my binge of this author's work. Sadly, not all of her books have been released on Amazon.com, although they're available on Amazon UK. This book is mostly about Pia, a ballerina who has taken the world by storm but she's not a nice person. She's promiscuous, rude and prone to having tantrums. She's at the top of her career when she is involved in an accident and her foot is seriously injured. She loses sponsorship deals and her place in the Chicago ballet company she dances for. Her rival swoops in and takes her job and sponsorship deals. She is "rescued" by a wealthy UK businessman called Will and he helps her recover and arranges for a dance off with her rival in order to help her make a comeback. There are other excellent secondary characters including her assistant Sophie, who Pia treats terribly and then fires her immediately after the accident. Sophie is a great character and has loads of bad luck in life and with men. The reader really roots for her to come right. As usual the author has written a complex tale with loads of different characters and subplots. Her books are never quick reads but they are always compelling.

I love Karen Swan’s writing however I did not enjoy this book as much as the others I’ve read by her. All her characters are always flawed like real people, but in this storyline it was very difficult to relate to any of them as they all had such deep secrets and there was very little character development. As the book ended I still feel like I did not have a good grasp on who Pia really was. The ending was very rushed when a lot of the middle could have been cut out to start the end game relationships earlier. Sophia’s relationship seem like it just sprung out of no where and had no real time to develop to allow the reader to understand why they fell for each other besides just the surface level of both of them being artists.I enjoyed this book more so because of the writing prose rather than the actual story. I have greatly enjoyed Karen Swan’s other novels, yet with this one I was more disappointed.

I found it hard to relate to the main character. The story was fairly interesting, but not something I would read again.

I stumbled upon this book and fell in love. Prima Donna tells the story of prima ballerina Pia Soto, a self-absorbed dancer, whose life is turned upside down after a potentially career-ending accident. I didn't think a story about a ballerina would appeal to me but boy Was I wrong. This book was witty, touching and even had a few jaw dropping twists and turns I didn't see coming. The plot and characters were well-developed . I highly recommend.

very interesting and full of suspense as to which of two ballerinas would be the winner. the book has its share of sex, romance and intrigue to keep the reader's interest until the end. My only complain is that the chapters of the book are often very long.

Great read, this was a good story that wasn't predictable I enjoyed it and would recommend.

Fun read, engaging characters who have a shot at finding redemption.

A really good read, this book enthralls from the beginning. The characters are well-developed, with increasing nuances introduced as the book develops. I felt I had to keep reading to see how things would pan out, & I certainly did not predict the twist at the end. I have read 3 of Karen Swan's books now, & this one is the best so far.
