While marketed as a children's book, I found it an excellent overview of a fascinating subject. As an avid reader in my 60's, I will not have time left to read in-depth primary sources as I have done in my career... Thus, a broad expanse of knowledge satisfies my curiosity - a dip of my toe into the ocean of knowledge - lol! Highly recommended for both text and graphics!

This is a beautiful book with high quality photographs. My son is obsessed with sea creatures and was given this book for his third birthday. He has looked through every page and perused it with other toddlers unsupervised without any damage due to the heavy weight of the pages. At this price I think it was a great buy!

Our whole family loved this encyclopedia! My 6-year old daughter asked for Christmas "a textbook about animals" and this is what I decided on after looking through soooooo many different animal books. The information is presented in short sentences she can read herself and the pictures are vibrant and really bring learning about animals to life. She loves it and the adults in the house love it to. We also bought DK's "Animals: A Visual Encyclopedia" as well so now she has her ocean animals and land animals covered.

This book was a gift for my 6-year old granddaughter who only wants to read books so she can "learn stuff". She loves it. She's thinking about becoming a Marine Biologist. Wish I had a crystal ball.

For my 2 1/2 year old. Turns out both him and my 1 year old love this book. It's very informative and has much more than I thought when I purchased it (a whole section on weather!!)The size is great, very sturdy binding. Love how it's organized. Both my kids want me to read sections out of it to them dailt.Thank you :)

I bought this as a gift for a little guy who looooooves his sea creatures. Great pictures throughout and lots of interesting info. Perfect for an elementary school kid.

I sent his to my niece who's 11 in a different state so I haven't got to physically see it but she called and said she loved it and takes it to school and reads it during reading time.
