I get why this one has gotten poor rating in comparison to the first. As others have voiced, this volume opens on a very "wrong" rendition of Zim.While I didn't have as many problems with the story as others seem to, I did have a problem with the art. So much of Zim is the way it looks, and to alter that, even a bit, makes it unsettling and--again--"wrong." It automatically doesn't feel like Zim. So, the start had me extremely taken aback.However, as the volume progressed, more of the stories felt more like "that ol' Zim" I remember. Yes, there are some more "off" moments, where the authors stray a bit off of the traditional characterization, but these didn't happen often.In the end, it comes down to a few simple questions and answers: Is it as good as Volume One? No. Is it terrible, then? No. But will I enjoy it? Mostly.Volume One gave me, and many others, high hopes for this series, and this is definitely a sophomore slump if I've ever seen one. But it's not bad, and I'm willing to bet that many more folks are like me and will still be giving Volume Three a shot.

I’d just finished reading Vol. 1 and was so impressed with the quality that I decided to go ahead and buy the rest of the volumes that were available. Thus, we have volume 2. Unfortunately, quality standards seen in the first volume seem to have dropped off a bit here…The first thing that struck me with Chapter 1 of this volume was how ugly the artwork was (despite being in full color). “What happened here?” I thought to myself. I went ahead and finished reading chapter 1 in order to see if the story was at least good, but sadly, it’s pretty un-funny. I know humor is subjective and all, but it felt really off to me, as though the person writing it was trying really hard to emulate the show but hadn’t gotten it quite right. Confused, I flipped back to the table of contents and realized that someone credited as “KC Green” wrote/illustrated that first chapter. I hate to insult an artist but…well. Thankfully, the rest of the chapters pick up in visual quality, and actually feature some better storylines. I’m not sure they are quite up to the first volume in quality, but they are miles better than Chapter 1. At the tail end of the comic, though, there is a short bonus chapter, once again done by KC Green. It manages to be even more hideous than the first chapter was, and is also painfully unfunny. I feel rather bad for KC Green at this point. I’m sorry, man.Well, taken altogether, this volume feels a bit less good than the first volume. Chapters 2-5 are decent and interesting, but perhaps not quite as funny as the stories from Volume 1. Still, if you already read Volume 1 and like it, go ahead and get this one – just push through Chapter 1 to get to the good stuff and you’ll probably enjoy yourself.

If you're a fan of the cartoon then this is well worth the money- there are so many more stories that were not made into cartoon versions and they are just amazing. the colors are bright and vibrant, the quality is amazing. so worth the money.If you've never seen Invader Zim please check it out. it'll put a smile on your face.

Definitely worth the read if you enjoyed the show. The art style does change from story to story, which takes a bit of getting use to and can be distracting at times. The story is still pretty good.

YES! volume 2 does not disappoint. This series ended to early on nickelodeon but now it lives on in comic books. great read if you like Invader Zim.
